I have more crazy baby inventions that I find either revolutionary or a waste of hard earned $$$ for you today. If you don't know what I am talking about, catch up with the conversation here.
The first is something my friends had for their first baby a few years ago. I thought it was the most ridiculous looking thing I had ever seen! I mean, who wants to sit their baby in a chair when they are only 4 months old? This my friends, is the Bumbo:
The Bumbo, according to it's website, is "the revolutionary infant chair that is uniquely designed according to the baby's posture. The Bumbo enables babies to sit upright all by themselves!!" I received this as a gift and was pretty skeptical. Until I tried it. Man, it is a lifesaver at dinnertime!! Bubba Boy doesn't want to be in his swing while we sit around the table together. At 4 months he is already feeling left out. So we include him like this:
We Love our Bumbo- it's a MUST HAVE!! A few weeks ago, while at the lake, Bubba Boy had a stuffy nose. Momma likes to keep his nose clean, right Aunt Ginger??? So, not wanting a hard night of him not being able to breathe, I sent Daddy to the store to find me a bulb, I mean a "nasal aspirator", which I prefer to call a nose-sucker. Do you think our local Walgreens had one of these?
No, and so Daddy (being the great hubby he is) decided NOT to come home empty handed and brought home a $20 battery-operated nasal aspirator that looked like this:
Go ahead. Laugh. I did when I first saw it. But you know what? It works wonderfully. Not only that, Bubba Boy doesn't scream bloody murder when I am sucking his snot out with it. For some reason, my little guy HATED the bulb but smiles at this thing, as if it tickles him. And it even plays sweet nursery rhymes while sucking. As if a sweet song will take away your baby's fear of this strangle looking machine heading straight for their nose!! Regardless of how silly it is, we will be using this instead of the bulb around here.

Go out and get one? If you want to. It is nice to be able to get the job done with out Ian squirming everywhere, but not absolutely necessary. And it beats this one:
Ahhhhh! It scared me too the first time I saw it. It is a specially made cap for baby's naptime. What kid is going to let you stick a cap all the way over their eyes to sleep? Not to mention, it is a little creepy looking......
And have you heard of Babysteals.com? Everyday they sell baby/toddler items for half the price. I got a pair of RoBeez for $12 a few months ago. Right now, their Hooter Hiders are just $15!! It's a great website for new mommies to subscribe to and a great place to get shower gifts.
Well, my prince is calling for me. Gotta run! Have a super Thursday!!

Wow, the things they have now. My kids HATE the nose sucker and I'm sure the battery one is much better. Yes, that picture did scare me a little.
Oh my word. I would have loved a Bumbo seat... I would never siphon snot out of my baby's nose.... that nap cap is very Clocklwork Orange.
Brr.
I saw you at Jenn's and as a fellow Texan, had to pop in to say hi!
Oh! The booger sucker. That's what I call it. GA-ROSS! I'm glad you found another alternative.
hehehe love the snot sucker.. thats what we call it at our house :-P I will have to get one of those for the next one. Sammy had really bad reflux in the beginning so the bumbo was a life saver. He didn't barf while in it and it gave my arms a break! I love that Ian eats dinner with you guys!
I wasn't reading too good and I thought you were sucking the snot out of your baby. That's so gross!! Good thing I went back and read it again :)
Oh my goodness, that hat is kind of creepy but so funny! What will they think of next?
Perhaps I'm stuck on stupid {to quote my IRL friend Debi} but what the flyin' fun is that Mama doing with that straw going from her babies nose to her mouth?!!? That is my official new definition of nasty!
I wish they would have had the bumbo when Trey was little. I hated always having him in the swing or the bouncy seat when we were eating. I am also a huge fan of the nose sucker. Thanks for the good deals. Have a great day!
That hat is cute and a little creepy. Good idea though. It's amazing the things they're coming out with!
Hope you're having a fabulous Friday! :)
That hat is creepy. Seriously weird...
I love that bumbo I wish they had had it when I had babies. Genius! Why can't we come up with something like that are rack in the dough??
XOXO
Jen
I meant rake...
So they seriously have a snot aspirator that you put in your mouth and suck on??? Really??? That is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Amazing how much has changed in the 8 years since I've had a baby around!
Hey, the Nosefrida snotsucker works WONDERS! So much better than the battery operated one and cheaper!! It's not gross at all.
To each his own :) My kids would have NEVER tolerated that hat! Too funny! The Bumbo was just getting widely known when I had my last - looks like it works though! And thankfully we are beyond snot sucking here so I can keep my $20 - but I'm glad it's working so well for you! Hope you're enjoying your weekend :)
What great finds! I have to say though the little eye cover is a little creepy! It took me a second to figure out what was going on!
How have you been? I feel like the biggest loser friend ever! I don't know what my problem has been, but I'm working on getting it together! Have a good day!
