The Gates of Bethlehem

This past season, we had the opportunity to go to the "Gates of Bethlehem" that the church we have been attending puts on.  It is a wonderful replication of Bethlehem with animals, food, crafts, and fun- all to recreate what Bethlehem was like when Jesus was born.
When we first arrived, we were added to the census and giving coins incase we were "taxed" while visiting the city.
We took the time to visit the animals.

And made a basket.

We carved passages onto bricks.
And helped the ironworkers.
Bubba wanted to try as well.....
Our favorite part was visiting the Baby Jesus - they had done it up so well, that you felt as if you were there witnessing a miracle - it was so neat.
I was so happy that we took the time to do this - it was a great time to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of the holiday and focus on why we are celebrating.

One of my local churches does the same thing, A Walk Through Bethlehem. It's a great experience and every year people line up and wait for hours to have their turn to experience Bethlehem.

Your boys in red look so handsome!
