It's the First Day of School!!!!!

Whoo-Hoo!!  As much as I enjoyed my summer with my babes, I was thrilled to see School starting up again. Thrilled to have routine back.  Thrilled to have one-on-one time with Bubba.  Thrilled to have a quiet house.

Wait.

Does that make me a bad mom?

Many moms were saying yesterday how much they missed their kids when they went back to school.  Try as I might, I just couldn't find that feeling anywhere.

Miss their constant bickering & fighting with one another?  Miss their enormous appetites for junk food? Miss their zoning in front of the tv, ignoring my requests to turn it off?

Nope.

They were ready to get back to school - they both had an AWESOME day, chattering about thier friends, the rules of P.E., their teacher's expectations ("can you believe I might have 2 nights of homework?"  gasp!!).

We had an awesome summer filled with travel, family, and fun.  But this family is ready for routine.  And the school year provides us with learning, schedules, better habits, and so on.

So, the 2 olders are back at school.

Amen.

That does not at all make you a bad mom! I love getting back to routine. Brody is gonna be taller than Sissy in no time.

Gosh I could have written this! lol I was longing for the day school would start back up - and then feeling guilty. But I've realized we thrive on that routine and structure. I NEED time with my youngest, especially before the new baby comes this fall. And my older two love school, love learning new things and seeing their friends. No more guilt - I'm thankful for school!

I have to admit I was officially ready for school to start Monday night. That's what I call perfect timing!

I think I'll be to where you are in a few years.

I've just never been good at letting go.

HAVE A GREAT AND QUIET DAY!

LOL! I'm the same way! I can not wait for my kids to start school! We are two weeks away. And it just can't go by fast enough!

Seriously, I'm ready for my kids to go to school by the time they are 3. We don't do preschool, cost too much. And there is no way in Hades will I ever do a co-op preschool. I don't want to deal with my own kids, why would I want 5 more 3 year olds?

This year, I'll have two in school (seriously wish Kindergarten was all day!) and three at home. At least the cat is a girl, I'm out numbered here!

You guys had such a busy summer - it must be a bit of relief to be back to normalcy.

The kiddos are looking pretty good on their first days!

Oh and I never had homework throughout school, I was fortunate enough to have teachers that literally "didn't believe in it". So two days of homework is WAY too much for any elementary schooler!!

stopped by and fell in love with your blog. I too have one starting middle school in two weeks. It's been a long summer and I long for the days of routine.
