We're Not Perfect

So how was your Easter?

Ours was great ~ thanks.

It was a perfect day - gorgeous weather - no obligations - happy family.

And as I downloaded these pictures off of the camera and sat down to write up the "perfect" Easter post from my "perfect" little family, I realized there was nothing perfect about this day....

We were all tired and grumpy when we got up super early to see what the Easter Bunny brought us.......
And tried to get Bubba interested in his basket.....
I tried and tried to get the perfect shots of them oohing & ahhing over their goodies.....

nope.

All I got was Bubba going crazy over a piece of Easter grass on his foot....
Or upset because Sis wouldn't let him have her Peanut Butter Eggs.  I mean it was 7:30 in the morning.....
We found a few eggs that the Easter bunny didn't fill......try explaining that one.
And a few more empty eggs.......

yeah Sis, the Easter Bunny's not "perfect".
All was gone through in less than 15 minutes.  Egg hunt done with a disaster left in it's wake.  Like my "perfect" living room??
And how's this for "perfect" parenting?  Yes, that is a baby eating a bit of chocolate before breakfast.

Like you never let your babies have some......
And on to the "perfect" Easter picture of the family.

Wasn't happening.
ok- give him my lens cap and see if that will get him to stand there.......
 no, don't tickle him......
kids- just keep on smiling til Bubba looks up.....
Insert Dad who says, "I HATE this - you always try to get the "perfect" shot."
Wow- your right.  I do.  I want that perfect family photo.

But why?

Why put up that facade that we are that "perfect" family?

We have our messy house, our Chick-Fil-A-cause-I'm-too-tired-to-cook nights, not-so pretty parenting moments, our chock-ful weekends so we get no rest........

There is nothing perfect about this family.

And I love it that way.
I can look at this "not-so-perfect" picture and see all the amazing memories this "not-so-perfect" family has brought me.

The worries.

The laughter.

The tears.

The joy.

Pure "perfect" joy.

And that's what so perfect about my family.

What's a great post! There is so much pressure to be perfect in the bloggy world. So lame!
Thanks for sharing! It was very much like my Easter. LOL!

Looks perfect to me! :) But I know exactly what you mean. I'm not sure why we try to cram so many things in, or why I get bent out of shape if things don't go just so. That's life! :)

Three times this week....I've thrown a fit because there was easter grass stuck to my foot.

I love your imperfect little family!

I love every bit of your imperfection.

I love the "real" pictures of your babies in their jammies, of Bubba losing his head over the grass, the look on Sissy's face is priceless...twice.

It seems like she's looking at you and saying "Oh, Mom ewww please stop in the first "formal" picture. Where you picking your nose?

I think what I love the most is that Matt sounds just like Babe, my need to capture every moment drives him insane. I found the key this past Christmas, I hired a photographer for the first time on about 7 years, there was no way he as going to show himself in front of her!

Yep, I love every bit of your imperfection, it's what makes you a perfect friend to me!

This post was PERFECT!!! My Easter went much like that as well. My littlest freaked at the "grass" stuck to the bottom of her foot too. I think I even facebook posted about the 4 meltdowns before 7:30... ahhh the joys of early morning holidays LOL.

Great family shots by they way!

I LOVE this post! Ultimately, I was reminded that it's really not about being perfect in this world!

I love it! My Easter went the same way. (Except I let Conner play Easter bunny, so all of our eggs were filled.)
:) None of our pictures came out... but I am not calm and reflective enough to find the beauty in it. I will try to channel my inner-Becca.
