At the Car Wash....

Remember Field Day as a kid?  It's that time of year when summer is right around the corner, so the teachers let you run around crazy outside all day and call it "field day".  Ours involved relay & potato sac races, and ribbons and competition.  And we loved it - we looked forward to it each year.  Remember that?

My kiddos love their field day too.  And as time has gone past, elementary kids have all sorts of fun field day activities.  Like picking up marbles with their toes.  Or the Car Wash:

When it's the first week of May and already in the 90's, the Car Wash ROCKS!

Poor Bubba didn't know what to think of the crazy kids at the car wash....
On to more "civilized" field day activities.  Like throwing a chicken with a frying pan?
Finally Sis's class came out and was ready to get dirty......
 With a good old-fashioned game of tug-o-war:

Did you win?  With a face like this....what do you think?

It didn't matter - they got out of the classroom and were exhausted when they came home form school that day! Score!

I heart field day.

I LOVED Field Day! I went to two elementary schools and my first one was like you mentioned with races and ribbons, which were so much fun and the second one was more of a play outside all day, eat lunch outside and finish with a grade tug-of-war...I missed the ribbon aspect of the first school, but both were fun in their own ways.

Looks like your kiddos had a blast!

I remember loving Field Day....even thought I wasn't very good at any of it.

I was a notoriously bad Field Day-er. It was called Play Day when I was in school, and I LOVED it. But, yeah. I wasn't so good at it. LOL
At my son's school they've decided to make the kids "earn" it. So it's called a Reading Carnival and they have to read 1000 minutes in the month of may to be able to have an "all day pass" to it. Which Is pretty cool, I guess, but it's an average of 35 minutes A DAY reading. OY!

I don't remember having field days at school, but I went to private school until high school so I might have been ripped off! Boo!

That looks like so much fun though! I think I'd love it just as much as they did now!

Ah Field Day. Boy, times have changed, huh? And I just have to say, I'm envious of your ninety degrees.

Field Day is and always will be my favorite (from student AND teacher aspect). I love being outside and playing games!

Looks like they had a fun time!

P.S. I need my car washed.
