Halloween's-a-comin! FMM

It is Friend Makin' Monday Time! Join in the fun with Amber at AEFilkins- just blog about the topic of the week, join in fun with McLinky, and go make new friends by visiting other's posts & commenting on them. I have met so many fun people on Friend Makin' Mondays!
This week's Friend Makin' Monday is all about Halloween! Specifically, what are we going to be for Halloween? It takes all the energy I have to figure out what my kids are going to be, so I don't have any left for myself. Which is fine by me. I'd much rather see my kiddos having fun!
So we were prepared this year! Months ago, Sissy and I decided what we as a family were going to be. I always wanted to do our costumes as a theme. And as big fans of Star Wars Clone Wars, the kids wanted to go as these characters:

We were even including the baby as Master Yoda:
And our sweet puppy resembles as Ewock.
It was going to be perfect. Until peer pressure hit my girl. You see, all of her friends are going as fairies from the Rainbow Magic series. And so, Sissy picked 5 that she "could" be and we spent all day searching the internet to find an outfit to resemble one of them. This is the one we came up with. A cute purple dress from Target and purple knee socks to match. All we need now is a handmade necklace and flower for her hair, and we are set to be:
Her brother, of course doesn't want to be a Jedi Knight without his sister, has changed his mind to be an "army guy". So he & Dad will head to the local Army Surplus store soon to get something similar to this:

And everyone is happy at my house. Whew!

What cute ideas! There is a great tutorial on how to make hair flowers here: http://www.mychihuahuabitesblog.com/2009/10/flowers-flowers-everywhere.html

I've already made a few and they're really easy. I'm planning on dressing up like a flower for halloween, which will be me with a hair flower and a green shirt... I know, not much effort put into it haha :)

Cute costumes and cute Star Wars theme. Dang too bad it didn't work out!

I'm sure the same will happen to me in the near future. Thankfully I was still able to sway the kids this year!

Little Bubba should still be Yoda!! CUTENESS!!!

Love all the costume ideas. I find if we decide too early, inevitably they will change their mind. My little girl wanted to be a hotdog and has now changed to tinkerbell! You will all look so cute~!

I always want to do a family theme thing too, but both kids will never be happy with the same thing! My daughter is going to be a cat this year and my son wants to be a dead person. Isn't that awful? I don't know exactly what we are doing with him yet!

So cute!

My 3 year old daughter is being a princess (surprise surprise) and my little 9 month son will be either a pumpkin or a cowboy! So fun!

The star wars would have been cute, but I totally understand the change of heart. This year Trey is going to be a monkey from Old Navy. How I love that I can still pick out his costumes.
Have a great Monday!

What fun ideas! I love the idea of a family theme for Halloween. Somehow it has never worked out. Each of my kids always wants to be something very different from the other ones. But I love the idea. That fairy outfit sounds so cute!

XOXO

I love the costumes they picked! It's so interesting when kids get their own opinion about stuff like this. I kind of miss the days when I just picked out a cute outfit from Pottery Barn with no complaints from Isaiah. :P He's set on being Darth Vader, but he dresses up as Darth Vader on an almost daily basis. Who knows what we'll end up with?!
