Great, yet another reason to think Dad's cooler....

Both my kids have a new bug. Another reason to idolize Dad. Another expensive sport. A new hobby to leave Momma at home...(hey, that's not a bad idea....). Let me spell it out for you.... G.O.L.F.
For years, Matt tried to get me to ply this snoozer of a sport with him. Let me tell ya, I was horrible. Losing-balls-all-over-the-place and when-are-we-through horrible. I think I had a few lessons and actually made it through 9 holes once before giving up. I mean who wants to give up 5 hours on a Saturday to chase a little white ball around?? Apparently, my kids now do.
Brody attended Golf Camp last week. For years he has told us that his favorite sport is golf. Now, the kid has never played it in his life, but he knew his Daddy loved the sport, so that was going to be his favorite sport too. So when we offered the camp to him, he jumped on it. He really enjoyed learning to putt, chip, and drive those insane little balls. And on Friday, he and Matt participated in a scramble.
And you know I was right there, armed with the camera to catch all those adorable father/son shots. Picture the crazy momma with the baby on my chest in the Baby Bjorn (what would I do without this thing?), driving around a really nice golf course in one of those fun golf carts. I stuck out like a sore thumb, but the instructors said they wanted the scramble to be a "family event". Huh, they didn't know what they were allowing me to do...

Look at my little guy at the driving range with his Daddy. Love it.

And here's Daddy helping him with his swing. Love it some more.
Aw, aren't they just 2 peas in a pod?
Brody was really excited for Matt to hit it in the sand trap. That meant he got to "rake" the sand. Yipee.
Attempting to putt. Not bad for your first try buddy.
Quite honestly, he was most excited to ride in the cart "thingy". Shhh...don't tell Matt.
And Sissy and I just loved the deer that were all over the course. Yes, 102 degrees out and we have deer!

It was hot, and Bubba wasn't enjoying it, so we headed back home while Sissy (who suddenly now wants to go to golf camp too) stayed behind with Dad and Jack. 3 holes in and Jack swung his putter around and hit his head. Don't ask me how. This could only happen to my sweet boy. He cut it pretty bad, so Dad called it quits to assess the situation.

So let me get this straight, We paid for Brody to ride in a golf "thingy", rake some grass, and cut his head open? Sounds like a blast Daddy. Have fun with these two on the course!

How fun! I think blogging does make us look like crazy moms. I think I document so much more now that I am a blogger. But as I tell Donnie, he will thank me later, when we have all of these memories.
Concerning the issue of golfing I will stand by you on your thoughts about golf. Donnie loves golf and plays when every he gets a chance. I played when we were dating you know when I was trying to impress him. Now that we are married I don't think I have step foot on a golf course in 9 years. I know what a bad wife, we should start a club.

Hi!

I am a fellow Texan (S.A.) and had to drop in to say hi. :)
I think it's so cute to see daddy and son bonding with fun! I would have been more interested in the deer. :)

You know that I'm totally with you about golf... Chris golfs, and I shop. See, we each have a sport! :-) I do have to say that Jack looks awfully cute as a golfer, but you know he's only doing it 'cause it's the one sport that lets him drive a cart at his age... If you were into an activity that let him drive a cart, he would "idolize" you too!

Oh my, I have been there! My mom used to beg me to take lessons so I would have a sport to play with Jason. I AM a golfer's widow. Just going to the driving range and I'm hitting more grass than balls, I gave in and quit. Nope, not for me!

Jack looks so cute in his golf attire. But find the positive, the kids golfing with daddy will give you at least 4-6 hrs of alone time!

My husband is a manager at a country club so we have access to great golf courses, but I have zero interest in them! My 9 year old has started to want to go play golf with dad, so we will see how this works out!

I love when kids are really into something and I also love to see kids with their dads. This is great, thanks for sharing. Sorry about his head though.

I'm with you on the golf thing...I just never got what was so great about it! I hope your son's head is ok.

I'm dropping a postcard in the mail to your kids today. Sorry it took me so long!

How I wish my boys enjoyed playing gold....a lot less chance of many trips to the ER and I love nothing more than driving a golf cart around!!

Maybe I'll work on talking them into giving it another chance. Hmmmm......

So cute! What a great thing to do and bond with their dad. My 4 year old has been obsessed with golf this summer. We found an old golf putting game still in the box that my son must have gotten as a gift years ago. We opened it and she hasn't stopped playing with it since.

I wish I knew how to play. I just don't have time for lessons right now. Maybe when I'm retired...

Hope you are having a great week so far!

XOXO
Jen
