Love is in the Air...

I wanted to make my loves something sweet for Valentine's day..... (plus I needed a quick dessert to take for a dessert swap), so I made a little Valentine's version of a s'mores bar...we shall call it the

S'mores Love Bar

just gather these simple ingredients....
melt some buttah....
 add some brown sugah.....
pour it over some crackahs....
 don't forget the chocolate....
mhhhh.....if only this was a "scratch-n-sniff" photo.....
add your marshmalloes and valentiny M&Ms
 mmmmm....a s'mores love bar
they didn't last long in this house y'all.

S’mores Love Bars

12 (5X2 1/2 inch) graham crackers
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 cups marshmallows
4 milk chocolate candy bars, broken into pieces

1.    Heat oven to 350°F.  Line 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan with foil leaving a 1-inch overhang on the ends.  Spray foil with cooking spray.  Place graham crackers onto foil so sides touch.
2.   Melt butter and brown sugar in medium saucepan over MEDIUM heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and mixture comes to a boil, about 5 minutes.   Pour evenly over crackers.
3.   Bake 5 to 6 minutes or until bubbly.
4.    Remove pan from oven; sprinkle with marshmallows and candy bar pieces.  Continue baking until marshmallows begin to soften, about 2 to 3 minutes.  Sprinkle with M&Ms (if desired).  Cool completely.  Lift form pan using foil.  Cut into bars.

It's Snow Fun!

Here is a little fun I had with a movie highlighting all the snow fun everyone across the US has had:

Snow! from Rebecca Darling on Vimeo.

No matter of you got 1/2 of an inch or 12, kids everywhere love the snow!
Doesn't this make you want to be a kid again???

Snow 2011

This past week we had crazy weather. It was 75 on Sunday, where I enjoyed my first farmer's tan of the season and a smattering of freckles across my face.  By Tuesday, it was in the 20's with a wind chill in the single digits.  We didn't leave the house.  And as I heard that all of my DFW friends on Facebook were enjoying "Ice days" at home, Bubba and I enjoyed a few "non-snow-snow-days" at home ourselves.  We played with trains endlessly, drank lots of coffee, read books, and didn't step one foot outside.

But on Friday, we finally got a small taste of the "snowmagaddon" the rest of the country was enduring. So, we only got 3/4 of an inch ~ someone referred to it as a powdered-donut ~ it was enough to shut down life as we know it here in Central Texas and this family enjoyed a REAL snow day!!

these kids were up early to see the "snow" that had fallen the night before
and there it is - our "winter wonderland"
doing the "no school dance" at 7 am

out we went in our pjs and coats to play!

bubba didn't know what to think of it - a true Texas boy
 these kids had big plans
 ~ snowball fights ~
~ snowmen ~
~ sledding~
~ snow forts ~

not so much....
playing in the back yard will have to do!

except this poor bubba boy HATED it!!

Good thing we live in Texas, where weather like this only comes around once every couple of years!!

Potpourri Part Two

And some more of the Darling Potpourri to clutter your lives with......

Sis's school had her annual Science Fair this past week.  She decided to see how well we can taste things with our nose plugged.  She blindfolded us and made us plug our nose to see if we could taste the flavors of several different puddings.  Even Dad (who is so NOT a fan of pudding) helped out:

I know - enough pics of my hubby - they just make me giggle...

And here's that Bubba boy on his magic car - I kid you not - his favorite thing to play with...
Ya-Ya & Lovey have had avery long relationship.  They have been friends for over 9 years.  Had many sleepovers together, been dragged all over the country and still manage to see each other a few times a year.
Possibly because these 2 sweet girls are such best friends - Ya-Ya & Lovey will always be close by.

Movin' On.....

Awards at school.....even if every kid is given an award I am still a proud momma bear.

Sissy came home with a Second place ribbon from the Science Fair - It was a great accomplishment - I (yes, I said I) worked hard to not interfere with her project - I let her do everything and it turned out beautifully.

I was proud of my girl and it once again showed me how quickly she is growing up.....

***Sigh***

Maybe there is too much stuff in my potpourri for me to keep up with..... Last night Brody told me he wanted to invent a machine to "freeze everything but the family" so we could go to Disney World and not have to wait in any lines.  Hmmmm.....maybe he is on to something...can we freeze time so my babies won't grow up???

Yeah, I know - quit whining - Life is like this - a fast-paced, crazy-fun-and-then-your-done season of life called parenthood.  Soak up every moment of it.  Every moment.....

Potpourri Part One

Remember on Jeopardy when the category was Potpourri?  I never really understood why they would call it that - until I thought about the word.

Potpourri is a jumble of things that come together to make something really nice.  My life is like potpourri right now.  We have so much going on that singularly look dull and mundane but when "jumbled together" make something really nice - our wonderful life.

Take a look at the potpourri we have been creating:

Brody has been working on many of his legos he received over the Christmas break.  It really is great relaxing time for him.  He never ceases to amaze me with how he can build something like this - I certainly couldn't do it!!
Sis's Junior Troop took a tour of our downtown a few weekends ago.  We had lunch at this neighborhood joint.  Bubba enjoyed dancing to his favorite song, "Firework" with all the girls.
Bubba received this fantastic Radio Flyer car for Christmas and he LOVES it!!  It is perfect for indoors and he is on it all the time.  Anyone with a one year old must get this toy!!
we love happy dances in pjs!!

One of the things I look forward to each month is our neighborhood book club.  We affectionately call it Wine Club as to the amount of wine we consume in 2 hours.....

The family is giddy about the upcoming wedding of this sweet couple - my sis-in-law, Ginger and her fiance' Andy.  I took this pic when they were down and I just love it!  We are looking forward to a fun time this summer.

This is just a few of the "snapshots" that go into our potpourri - we have indoor soccer practice, Boy Scouts, Girl Scout Cookie selling, science Fair projects, PTA, and much much more that go into the mix.  I love the potpourri our humble little life can create!!
