"You're Just Not the Camping Type, Becca."

No, I'm not.  But let it go down on record that I tried it on this past vacation.  Or I tried "glamping", as my brother called it.  That's because we "camped" in a brand new 5th wheel trailer.  And I still didn't like it.  Shall I count the reasons why?

Bugs.
I had 2 chigger bites still 2 weeks later. And man they itched. I don't get bites like this in my house.

No room to move.
My little 14-month-old needs room to toddle around and play and a small little camper does not have enough space for him.  So we take him outside where it's....

Hot and Humid.
I mean who camps in July in the south? 'nuff said.

The Potty Situation.
My mom was worried about having to empty the 'potty tank', so she strongly encouraged us to use the public potties.  UGH.  Nothing like having to potty at 6:00 am and having to put shoes on and walk outside in your pjs to go to a stinky potty filled with daddy long-legs (eeek!) to go potty.  I don't need this.

Snakes.
I saw a snake in the campground.  It was dead.  But that was enough for me.

Sleeping.
Picture 6 of us in one 5th wheel.  Yes it technically has a bedroom, but the whole thing is like one room.  Sis & I slept on the couch that made out into a queen-sized bed, Brody was on the floor under our bed (his choice), and the baby was in the pack-n-play right next to us.  If someone turned over in the night, the whole trailer shakes.  Nice.

Ok, so surely I have something nice to say about camping.

anything?

uh...let me think.

It was great to see my Seattle-living brother who I get to see maybe once a year?

But, I only saw him for a few mins as he was in a beautiful wedding that weekend.
Ah, there we go, the whole reason we camped...the wedding.  A gorgeous wedding in a stunning chapel in the words.  That was definitely worth the camping-pain I endured.

maybe.

I'm not the camping type either! I feel your pain sister!!! My first experience was YEARS ago at a local river and I was scarred for life. Then..my hubby took me in a fifth wheel to the Disney campground (after much persuasion)...now, I LOVE IT--but ONLY at the Disney campground!!!

That is the most beautiful little chapel I have ever seen! I want to renew my vows there, in the fall and not in a camper!

I am totally the camping type, so I can't really relate to you there, but I do hate the bugs, snakes, and humidity. Somehow I just manage to get past it. :)

we saw each other for more than a few minute! We spent the weekend at the lake. You must have forgotten.

oo I love camping! Sorry you didn't have fun... we do however only go camping in the spring or fall (in a tent). That chapel is AMAZING!!

LOL! Well, camping isn't for everybody...neither is "glamping". I personally love to get away from all the phones and TVs and just being in the outdoors...oh, who am I kidding?! We go "glamping" too. I take my phone and we have a huge flat screen...with a satellite. Basically we take the entire house out to the state park for a few days...but we like it. I'm not a fan of bugs or snakes, but I usually manage to not totally freak out. Michael and my dad are always on bug patrol...the kill anything larger than a dime. It's the rules.

The wedding in the stunning chapel...ahhh. I love it! I bet it was gorgeous!

We're going to work on that for you, Girl! Don't forget how much your two older children LOVE being with their grandparents in the wilds of campgrounds! ;-)
Smores, sitting around the campfire, eating outside on the picnic table, meeting new friends, etc. - makes a wonderful memory!

I completely agree with you. We went camping last month. It was supposed to be a 2 day camp...but after baking the first day I convinced the man staying the 2nd was just plain suicidal. We're from TEXAS we should have known better!

Me Either!!

I would however, rent a cabin...with a bathroom.

That's as good as it gets for me.

Camping doesn't bother me much but that's probably because I've been doing it my whole life but some people just are cut out for it. The chapel was gorgeous by the way, where is that?

You are a good one! I'm not an outdoorsy kind of person at all. That wedding looks pretty beautiful though.

I am with you on the camping thing! We camped out in the backyard last weekend and came in the house at 3 AM because I couldn't take it. It's ok to not be a camper (I think).

It looks like you had fun though!

Okay, first of all . . . I couldn't agree more on camping {or glamping!} The bugs, the heat, the DIRT, the ick. I do it once a year {sometimes twice} because Jerm and the girls love it so. But I have less and less patience for it each time.

And second: Wow, that is one gorgeous chapel! How fun!!

You are so not motivating me to go camping on Labor day. Camping is on Trey's to do list and Donnie thinks it will be wonderful to catch a race and then go camping. I would rather camp at the Holiday Inn, lol.
The chapel does look beautiful. The last photo of the kiddos is so cute.
I hope you are having a wonderful day!
