Love London!!

In celebration of the Royal Wedding and all things British, I wanted to take a few moments to ohh & ahh over the brief stay Matt & I had in London the summer of 2008.......

I do have a minor fascination of all thing Royal, so we did a TON of "royal" sightseeing......

Recognize this stately Palace?
It is absolutely breathtaking in person....
We were only in London for 5 days but we came to see the changing of the guard 3 times.....
And to say hello to my favorite Queen....

Funny, the Royal family didn't come out and wave at me from their "little" porch like I expected them too....

But we did catch a glimpse of Prince Charles......
Nah, it wasn't him, but it sure looked like him!

We visited a few other Royal Palaces, like Hampton Court Palace, where King Henry VIII spent most of his time with all 6 wives....
And the Tower of London to see the Royal Jewels and where Anne Boylen spent too much time.....
We took a ride on the Eye and were overwhelmed with how breathtaking everything is.  Everything has such an amazing amount of history over there - nothing compares to it here in the states.

Just look at how beautiful The Parliament & Big Ben are.....
St. James Cathedral - I stood on the exact spot where Princess Di & Prince Charles were married...
I couldn't get enough pics of this gorgeous clock tower.
And we got to observe a church service with a  choir at Westminster Abbey.....

It was solumn and breathtaking at the same time.

And I can't possibly believe how amazing it is going to be on this Royal Wedding Day.

Which leads me to my dvr that has been up since 3 am taping all the festivities.  I kinda changed my tune from yesterday and am anxious to go and see the Royal Wedding.  I'm sure it's gonna be Fab!

Royal Wedding Bells Make Us Crazy!

The Royal Wedding (ya- you know what I'm talking about - William & Kate) is less than 2 days away and the world is going CRAZY over the nuptials.  With good cause - who wouldn't want to see a possible King of England marry his maybe Queen???

Just a mere google of "royal wedding" is frightening.  So many websites and live streams and "upload your wedding wishes for the newlyweds!" and countdowns and stuff.  Crazy stuff.

Like this story of a 19-year old lady from Mexico who went on a hunger strike to score some tickets (invitation??) to the event.  She didn't get any but at least she may be skinner.

NBC's TODAY show created an iPad app for the occasion.  Of course they did.

And did you hear about the jelly bean that had the face of Kate?  uh huh.  I'm not making this up.

CRAZY!

And when I didn't think it could get any crazier, I found these adorable souvenirs of the occasion.  QUICK!  Better grab them now before they're all gone!
yes. GE makes a fridge with their picture on it.
this one's for the diehard.
you know you want one.

well, if you can't afford the Fridge, at least you can pick up some Royal Wedding Nail Appliques.

or maybe a Pez dispenser.
Just think of all the pez you can eat during the over 300 hours of tv that will be focused on the event.
You can wash it on down with some "Kiss Me Kate" beer.
and if you by chance get sick after all that off-brand beer and candy, just reach for your Royal Wedding Barf Bag.
can you believe over 8000 of these have been sold already?
 huh?
I really can't think of one witty thing to say about this.

But I do get a kick out of these:
Will & Kate Tea Bags- are they cute?

not.

I get the hype- it's exciting seeing a young Royal couple get married - making history - it will be exciting.

But, I'm not crazy and I will NOT be up at 5:00 am Friday morning to watch it live.  Will you??

But I will admit...i'll probably DVR it.....

WWTKW - Random Questions are...Random....

It's Wednesday and time for another We Want to Know Wednesday with Mamarazzi, Shawn, Impulsive Addict & Janette.  Go visit these fun ladies if you haven't before -- each one of them are unique in their blogging style and will make you laugh!!

Photobucket
To get us out of doing random chores this Wednesday morning (which I really need to clean the bathrooms), we are learning more about one another though our WWTKW party.  Here goes!

Here are some random questions from my friend Shawn....

{1} What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex? Are you an eyes or a smile person? Maybe another body part?
I always notice eyes on anyone - however, I am always looking for the smile - male or female - I am naturally a friendly person, and will always smile at you - is it so much to ask for a smile back??

{2} If a movie was being made about you who would you like to see cast to play you? And would your movie be a comedy, drama, romantic-comedy, action film or a horror movie?
Hmm..really? Do I go for the gorgeous movie star (who certainly looks like me)? Of course.  I like Renee Zellweger - she's adorable...plus a Texas Gal - bonus!
And it would definitely be a romantic comedy - my life has been great and i can't see it being portrayed as anything else.  But honestly, y'all - the movie would bore you to tears....

{3} Does your high school yearbook include a senior comment section? If so share what you said about your future goals. Have you met those goals? If you do not have a yearbook just share what your goals where when you were 18 and if you have met them. If you’re brave enough include your Senior Picture!
Wow- I just spent 15 minutes searching for my yearbook and another 30 reading it - wow - that was a walk down memory lane.
No Senior comment section, but back then I was all boy crazy and wanted to get married and have a family.  LAME.
Thank goodness that "boy" called it off soon into the fall semester at college and I got my priorities straight.

However, there is a page of Senior Superlatives where I was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" AND "Most Arrogant"?  Huh?  Apparently being the treasurer, yearbook editor, dance team, basketball, & softball, and the valedictorian made you snobby?  Shut it - my graduating class had 96 - someone had to do it.
So here I am in all my "arrogant" glory - at least I could play along with it:
Oh well- here is my adorable baby Senior picture.  1992 baby.
{4} What latest trend simply baffles you?
I am going to admit to you all that I just spent 10 minutes googling "crazy fashion trend of 2011" because I can't think of a thing.  So lame.  I honestly don't see much that bugs me in terms of fashion - I love that people have their own looks they like to pull off.

I will forever be bother by the stupid low slung pants where you can see underwear sticking out - that is so annoying to me - it's disrespectful for you to think I want to see your Big Boy Undies.......

{5} When you walk into a room how do you present yourself? Do you walk in with confidence and command the attention of others or do you slink in and do your best to go unnoticed?
As my mom - she'll tell ya - I was born with confidence - no problem walking into a room with my head held high - I'm not a snob about it - I just am very comfortable in my own skin.

We're Not Perfect

So how was your Easter?

Ours was great ~ thanks.

It was a perfect day - gorgeous weather - no obligations - happy family.

And as I downloaded these pictures off of the camera and sat down to write up the "perfect" Easter post from my "perfect" little family, I realized there was nothing perfect about this day....

We were all tired and grumpy when we got up super early to see what the Easter Bunny brought us.......
And tried to get Bubba interested in his basket.....
I tried and tried to get the perfect shots of them oohing & ahhing over their goodies.....

nope.

All I got was Bubba going crazy over a piece of Easter grass on his foot....
Or upset because Sis wouldn't let him have her Peanut Butter Eggs.  I mean it was 7:30 in the morning.....
We found a few eggs that the Easter bunny didn't fill......try explaining that one.
And a few more empty eggs.......

yeah Sis, the Easter Bunny's not "perfect".
All was gone through in less than 15 minutes.  Egg hunt done with a disaster left in it's wake.  Like my "perfect" living room??
And how's this for "perfect" parenting?  Yes, that is a baby eating a bit of chocolate before breakfast.

Like you never let your babies have some......
And on to the "perfect" Easter picture of the family.

Wasn't happening.
ok- give him my lens cap and see if that will get him to stand there.......
 no, don't tickle him......
kids- just keep on smiling til Bubba looks up.....
Insert Dad who says, "I HATE this - you always try to get the "perfect" shot."
Wow- your right.  I do.  I want that perfect family photo.

But why?

Why put up that facade that we are that "perfect" family?

We have our messy house, our Chick-Fil-A-cause-I'm-too-tired-to-cook nights, not-so pretty parenting moments, our chock-ful weekends so we get no rest........

There is nothing perfect about this family.

And I love it that way.
I can look at this "not-so-perfect" picture and see all the amazing memories this "not-so-perfect" family has brought me.

The worries.

The laughter.

The tears.

The joy.

Pure "perfect" joy.

And that's what so perfect about my family.

My Happy List: Easter Edition

Good Morning!  It is shaping up to be a beautiful Easter weekend!  I hope everyone takes the time to recognize all that God has done for you this weekend - sending his son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross for us!

And in turn, I want to recognize all that I have been blessed with this week via Mamarazzi's "Happy List"

Photobucket

1. It's Easter weekend!!  My kids had Friday off - here in the south, we always get Good Friday off from school.  When I was growing up, we called it "Good Friday", but now it is just a "spring Holiday".  go figure.

Both older kids thought they got the day off for Earth Day - hmmmm - no.

Don't get me wrong, Earth Day is great - love Mother Nature - but since when does it trump the death of Christ?  Not in this house.

Luckily, a few friends of mine shared this fun clip on The FaceBook this week and it got my kids back in the right frame of mind.

Please take a moment to watch it - it so adorable.....

2. Good Friday off playing with my kids!  We planned a HUGE photo scavenger hunt with friends in the neighborhood and finished the day with a swim in the pool with margaritas.  It.Was.Awesome.

3. A Massage.  I won a massage from my personal trainer and y'all....it was the best massage ever!!!  I don't take the time to get these very often and it was so wonderful.  ahhhhhhhhhh

4. RedBox - have ya'll discovered this???  So easy and only a BUCK!!  We rented Love & Other Drugs.  Good movie but what cracked me up the most was that the character was a Pfizer rep - and they nailed it.  So outrageously funny the things he did....and so embarrassingly true.....

5.  Found $$$$.  Hubby pulled a back pack out of the attice and while emptying it out, discovered a few travelers checks from a vacation we took in 2008.  WHAT?????  God just blesses us left & right in the best ways.  Momma's going shoppin for some Easter shoes today!!!

It has been a really good week -- we are happy to have no commitments this entire weekend and spend time as a family.

Happy Easter to all!!

Christ is Risen!

He has Risen Indeed!!
